    From 2nd to 7th of February
    Saami Week 2010

    The Sami Week in Tromsø is held every year in connection to the Sami National Day February 6th. During a week packed with activity you have a unique chance to experience Saami culture in the midst of a modern city. In 2010 the Saami Week will take place from the 2nd to the 7th of February.

    The complete programme for the Saami Week is not yet complete, but many events are already in place.  

    The Market Square will in general be the centre of much activity, such as the Saami market during the weekend, and the Norwegian Lasso Throwing Championship and the Norwegian Reindeer Racing Championship, on Saturday February 6th and Sunday February 7th respectively.


    In addition to this the city will be swimming in Saami events all week: Exhibitions at Tromsø museum, Saami films at Aurora Cinema and a wide range of activties for all age groups at Tromsø Library.


    The Saami Week in Tromsø is a unique display of the fusion of modern city life and traditional Saami values, all wrapped up together in picturesque Tromsø during a few intense winter days. Anyone would be mad to miss it!
