    Bilde over Tromsø mot nordWould you like to combine running with something exotic and at the same time experience the Arctic? Then the Midnight Sun Marathon is something for you. At almost 70° N you can run in broad daylight in the middle of the night.

    On 19th of June 2010 it's time for the 21nd Midnight Sun Marathon in Tromsø (Norway). Last year runners from more than 50 nations participated., theUK, USA, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Brazil, Australia and many other nations were represented. On the program you will find Marathon, Halfmarathon, adidas Race(10 km), Mini-Marathon(4,2 km) and a special children's race. This makes the Midnight Sun Marathon to a race for all kinds of runners. The MSM is also the only marathon race in Norway which is a member of AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races). AIMS have also measured all the courses. The marathon race is also the northern most AIMS certified marathon in the world. The start is in the city centre and you run over the 1.026 meters long Tromsø-bridge (44 meters above the sea level) to the mainland. After about 20 Km distance on the mainland, the runners return and run back over the bridge through the centre of the city and round the southern part of the island. Turn back to finish area in the city centre. Tromsø is regarded as the unofficial capital of northern Norway with about 67.000 inhabitants. The most popular attractions are the Arctic Cathedral, the Tromsø Museum, the Polar Museum, Cable Car and Polaria. Polaria presents the arctic life of the northern part of Norway. Tromsø is situated in northern Norway with beautiful surroundings, it has elements of a bigger with its inhabitans from more 130 different countries, and the city has a charming nightlife with coffeeshops, bars and restaurants. In Tromsø the sun doesn't set for 2 months, from the middle of May till July 19. This is one of the main things that makes MSM a very special and exotic event. Even in cloudy weather it is broad daylight 24 hours a day. The start time for the Marathon is at 8:30 p.m. and the Halfmarathon at 10.30 p.m. In January we also organize a winter race in Tromsø, Polar Night Halfmarathon. This race is a winter race in a part of the year when we do not see the sun, but you can often see the northern light.
